Several years ago, Leo Burnett transitioned from the traditional "Take Your Child To Work Day" and began the Kids Day tradition. On Kids Day, each floor in the Leo Burnett building designs game and activites, often based on their clients or expertise. My team always chose to create a series of games and interactions, to showcase our favorite technologies or give a reason to experiment with emerging ones.
For 2014, our theme was "Monsters."
- Through our resident animators, we created two 2D arcade titles. One was a 2D infinite runner game, and the other was a spoof of Flappy Bird. Each was installed on a large display with an arcade stick.
- Monster Maker was an augmented reality piece where children could build their own monster and take their pictures with it. While standing next to a large AR marker on the ground, kids would hold up customizing cards with features like "Blue", "Wings" or "Horns". These cards would be detected and would change their monster accordingly.
- Our showcase piece was City Destroyer--a motion-controlled game where kids could choose their form (robot, alien, or Stay Puft Marshmallow Man) and walk around a virtual Chicago, knocking down anything in their path.
