In October 2011, Nintendo and Best Buy partnered for the launch of two high-profile Nintendo 3DS games: New Super Mario Bros and Mario Kart. As part of that partnership, a small microsite would live on BestBuy.com throughout the holiday season.
Built with Flash, the highly-animated microsite was meant to simulate the 3D immersion users felt when playing the 3DS. All UI elements were placed on separate layers, and then paralax left and right with the position of the mouse cursor to create the illusion of everything moving in 3D space.
